The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Finance and Budget Officer to join its Global Environment Facility (GEF) Coordination Unit in Nairobi. About the Role
As the Finance and Budget Officer, you’ll oversee the financial management of GEF funds, including budgeting, reporting, and compliance. You’ll provide expert advice on financial policies, manage budget implementation, and ensure the integrity of financial systems. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor the financial administration of GEF funds, including budgeting and reporting.
- Review and finalize financial statements and budget performance reports.
- Provide guidance on financial policies, procedures, and results-based budgeting.
- Ensure compliance with GEF and UNEP financial regulations and rules.
- Represent GEF budgetary and finance matters in inter-divisional meetings.
Requirements
- Advanced university degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in finance, administration, or budget management.
- Experience with financial systems (e.g., SAP) and IPSAS-compliant accounting.
- Professional certification (e.g., CPA, Chartered Accountant) is desirable.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of French or another UN language is an asset.
