Intern – Information Technology (UNON, Nairobi)
The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is offering a 6-month internship in Information Technology, based at the UN Gigiri Complex in Nairobi. This is a fantastic opportunity for students or recent graduates in IT or related fields to gain hands-on experience in IT support, network administration, and information security within a global organization.
About the Role
As an IT intern, you’ll assist in a wide range of tasks, including installing and configuring operating systems, troubleshooting network issues, providing end-user support, and maintaining server and data center equipment. You’ll also contribute to creating guidelines, testing software updates, and supporting network cabling and infrastructure. This role offers a unique chance to develop practical IT skills while contributing to the operations of the United Nations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in installing and configuring operating systems and applications.
- Provide IT support to end-users and troubleshoot network issues.
- Migrate computers to Azure AD and deploy software updates.
- Maintain server and data center equipment, including hardware and software.
- Support network cabling installation and maintenance.
- Assist in creating end-user guidelines and standard operating procedures.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree in Information Technology or a related field (minimum 4th year for undergraduates).
- Basic knowledge of IT systems, network administration, or information security is a plus.
- Fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
